You have announced your product. Now you need a way to keep finding people who have the problem it addresses, answer their questions, and follow up when they are interested.

The Anti-Crickets Routine gives that work a place in your week. Choose a relevant conversation, contribute an answer, and record what happens next. Writing posts and reviewing responses fit inside the same schedule.

The time limit is 30 minutes per session. Stop earlier if the task is complete and logged. There is no reply quota to meet before you can stop.

A practical guide with examples and worksheets

The six-page PDF includes four pages of instructions and worked examples, a reusable session log, and a twelve-week tracker.

01

Set up your first searches

Define an intended customer and a problem, choose one or two relevant communities, and save searches using phrases people use to describe that problem. Setup replaces the first session; it is not extra work before the routine begins.

02

Plan the daily work

Spend five minutes reviewing searches and conversations, twenty on a selected activity, and five recording the outcome and next step. A sample week makes room for replies, a useful post, and relevant follow-ups. The weekly review fits inside the final session.

03

See what to say

Follow a completed example for a fictional product serving freelance web designers. See a useful public answer, a transparent product invitation, and a private follow-up after someone agrees to a walkthrough.

04

Save ideas and decide what to change

Keep notes on recurring questions and objections for the next writing session. Use the review guide to choose what to do when searches miss the audience, replies receive little response, or someone wants to try the product.

05

Record what actually happens

Use the printable log to record the problem, your contribution, the response, and the next action. Keep agreement to a walkthrough separate from attendance, and a promise to try the product separate from completing a task.

06

Track twelve weeks in one place

Check completed sessions and record an observation or change for each week. The tracker measures work completed; the log records responses. Twelve weeks is a tracking window, not a promised time to customers.

Who this is for

Use this routine if:

  • You build a product for people who discuss their work in online communities.
  • You want a defined time limit for outreach and follow-ups.
  • You need help turning relevant discussions into useful replies and post ideas.
  • You want to record responses and adjust your approach without relying only on views or reactions.

If your prospective users do not participate in the communities you can find, investigate another way to reach them. Repeating the routine in the wrong place will not resolve that mismatch.

Start with one relevant conversation

Set up your searches, choose a discussion you can contribute to, and record the response. If someone expresses interest in the product, offer a specific next step. Use what happens to plan the next session.

The routine provides a schedule and a way to review your work. It does not guarantee replies, customers, or results within a particular period.
